Hey, I am Emma
I work as a project manager. I’m a parent and an expat living in Zurich, Switzerland.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Switzerland wasn’t in the grand design. Like many global relocations, it began with a job opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The first months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Routine tasks seemed more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was cultural shock, uncertainty, and much learning by doing. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and started building something that felt stable.
Why I Built Elm Point Cedar
Online info mostly fell into two camps: corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was candid, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real-life experiences in Switzerland.
What this site does (and doesn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on insights from living in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A sponsored-review platform
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Switzerland continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Cheers,
Emma
